Approaching the end of summer, but you wouldn’t know it as the San Bernardino County fires are still raging and our local temperatures in my area are 103 F.
Like political surveys and polls, Trending is an evaluation in a certain time frame, and all agree it is just a “slice of data at that moment in time.”
Today it is published that Harry Potter is still a reader favorite and so is Janet Evanovich. The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins is still holding up and I noticed that trade soft cover version are now on the rack at Walmarts and at Walmart’s grocery outlets. But, also hot is the August 1 release of the James Patterson- Michael Ledwidge crime novel called BULLS EYE.
Mysteries and Thriller still top the reader subscriber lists, and that jives with Patterson and Evanovich releases. But, Fantasy is down from the top and if J. K. Rowling falls in that category, and is still VERY HOT, and now a new movie release based on her Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ….. well, it’s the ultimate in book trailers, huh, a movie on your book.
In non-fiction, Zero Belly Smoothies is at the top of several lists and maybe has been for a while now.
On this new page/TAB will be exactly that, what just happens to be “trending.” I suppose in the past it might be called “current events.” But, that is too long, too old. Except, for someone else out there, one of those words is worth considering. That is …… CURRENT ……… or CURRENTS, as if carried along, and swept away. Huge implications there.
But I was reading the popular term on the WEB NEWS pages, like Yahoo News, for example, the term “TRENDING NOW” – Then there is a list of top stories. They mean NEWS Stories, but, it could mean BOOK STORIES. What are readers buying? Hmmmmm. So, TRENDING it is ………. for now.
